puppet theater from April 2007 Smithsonian performanceStudents who wish to major in Japanese at MU may major in East Asian Studies with a focus on Japan in the International Studies Program, which combines classes from across the University curriculum with a focus on courses in the Japanese Studies Program.

In the course of four years at MU, a student is able to take more than 45~50 credit hours in the Japanese Studies Program, plus courses on Japan and other East Asian cultures in other departments. In addition, students who study in Japan for a summer, a semester, or an academic year may expand even more greatly the range of Japan-related courses they may take as part of their MU program.
